Simone Biles is kicking off the NFL regular season with a heartfelt message to her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens. As the NFL season gets underway, Biles, 27, took to Instagram to express her love and support for Owens, 29, sharing a sweet tribute ahead of the Bears’ upcoming game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, September 8.
In her Instagram Stories, Biles posted two Polaroid snapshots of the couple, smiling and posing together in front of a light blue wall. Alongside the photos, she wrote, “See you in a few weeks ??,” hinting at the challenges of balancing their busy schedules with the start of the football season. Owens, clearly touched by the gesture, shared the post on his own Instagram account, adding a simple “????” to reciprocate the love.
This display of affection comes just weeks after Biles wrapped up her historic run at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she secured four medals and became the most decorated U.S. gymnast in Olympic history. Despite her recent triumphs, Biles isn’t slowing down; she’s gearing up for the Gold Over America Tour, which kicks off on Monday, September 16, in Oceanside, California. The tour, which features a stellar lineup of gymnasts including Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, and Hezly Rivera, promises to showcase “jaw-dropping athleticism and high-energy choreography” while delivering an inspirational message of “hope, strength, resilience, and determination,” according to its official website. The tour will keep Biles on the road through November 3, keeping her busy during the first few weeks of the NFL season.
Long-distance has become a familiar aspect of Biles and Owens’ relationship. The couple, who were married in a destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas in May 2023—shortly after legally tying the knot in April—has navigated the challenges of their respective careers, often finding themselves apart due to professional commitments.
Last September, Biles opened up about the difficulties of long-distance love during an interview with Hoda Kotb on the Today Show, revealing that they “started long-distance less than a week” after their wedding when Owens signed with the Green Bay Packers. “Right after Cabo, he went to Green Bay and signed, and two days later, he was up there,” she shared. “At least we’re both busy and focusing on our respective sports. It’s been nice.”
Despite the physical distance, Biles and Owens have consistently shown unwavering support for one another. In a July interview with PEOPLE, Owens spoke about the importance of being each other’s biggest cheerleader. “I love watching [it] from an athlete’s perspective because that’s how you’d be great in any sport, is just being consistent and doing the same thing consistently good every day,” he said. “I love to watch it and I love to be out there and be a cheerleader.”
As Biles embarks on her gymnastics tour and Owens takes the field for the Bears, their strong bond and mutual encouragement will undoubtedly continue to be a source of strength for both.
Their relationship, marked by love, resilience, and mutual admiration, serves as an inspiration to many, proving that even in the demanding world of professional sports, love can thrive across the miles.
