As Simone Biles continues to etch her name in the annals of Olympic history at the 2024 Summer Olympics, her unwavering support system is celebrating her monumental achievements with fervor.
Biles played a crucial role in helping Team USA clinch the gold in the gymnastics team final earlier this week, a victory that cemented her status as the most-decorated U.S. gymnast ever.
However, her trailblazing journey did not stop there.
On Thursday, August 1, she further solidified her legacy by winning the gold medal in the women’s artistic gymnastics all-around final in Paris. This remarkable feat made her the first woman to win two Olympic all-around titles since Vera Caslavska in 1968.
While the world of fellow Olympians and celebrities showered her with accolades, Biles’ closest loved ones, including her NFL star husband Jonathan Owens, 29, and her sister Adria Biles, 25, were particularly vocal in their celebrations.
Owens took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his pride and joy, writing, “Another one!!!! ??? You’re so amazing ??.” The Chicago Bears player shared his elation alongside a video of Biles’ score, also posting his reaction on Instagram. His admiration and love for his wife were palpable, echoing the sentiments of many who have followed her storied career.
Adria Biles also celebrated her sister’s historic ninth medal on Instagram Stories, sharing a photo of Simone with the medal and an exuberant message in all capital letters: “Shut the eff up I have the coolest big sisterrrrrr,” she wrote. “What a freaking boss babe!! ILYSFM?????.”
Biles’ latest triumph brings her total Olympic medal count to nine: six golds, one silver, and two bronzes. Owens had previously commemorated her team gold win with an Instagram post on Tuesday, July 30, where he expressed his awe and pride: “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat ??. Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it ????.”
As Biles stood on the podium on Thursday, she wore a necklace that perfectly symbolized her status—a sparkly goat pendant on a silver chain. The goat, representing her “G.O.A.T.” (greatest of all time) status, was a fitting tribute to her unparalleled achievements.
“My goat necklace is just kind of an ode, because the people love it and then some people hate it, so it’s like the best of both worlds,” Biles explained to reporters, including PEOPLE, during a press conference. “I was like, okay, if it goes well, I’ll wear the goat necklace, I know people will go crazy over it.”
Reflecting on her journey, Biles added, “But at the end of the day, it is crazy that I’m in the conversation of greatest of all time athletes, because I still think I’m Simone Biles from Spring, Texas, that loves to flip.”
Biles’ Olympic journey is not yet complete. She will have more opportunities to add to her impressive medal tally when she competes in the individual event finals for vault, balance beam, and floor exercise.
Each event presents a new chance for the gymnast to showcase her extraordinary talent and determination, further cementing her legacy as one of the greatest athletes of all time.
