Jonathan Owens is coming to his wife’s defense following a social media claim by a makeup store employee, alleging that Simone Biles was once “rude” to her and refused to take a picture.
Just hours prior to his team’s matchup against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, the 28-year-old Green Bay Packers safety took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the incident. It appears that this incident occurred before the couple tied the knot.
“Spreading lies on the internet is crazy, it’s okay for her to deny a picture,” Owens wrote about his wife. “People don’t understand sometimes you just want to shop in peace, if she stops and takes one picture people will just keep following her and won’t leave us alone.”
Owens added, “And another thing, I’ve never heard her talk to someone like that, especially to someone who asked her for a picture, like why would you try to make her look like that, she’s sweetest person in the world. I just couldn’t let this go, especially if i was there like you said i was.”
The athlete proceeded to repost the original message from @ilekamays, where she asserted that Biles, who is now 26 years old, had been discourteous to her and fellow staff members in a previous encounter.
“Simone Biles came into a makeup store i worked at with her now husband,” @ilekamays wrote in part. “My coworkers daughter did gymnastics so she politely asked for a picture with her during check out and Simone said ‘Absolutely not. Your daughter is 4 she doesn’t even know me.’ ”
The store employee further elaborated, stating, “She was impolite to the staff. We extended our assistance, as we do for everyone, and she responded with ‘Do I look dumb?'”
Owens’ public defense of his newlywed wife occurs during a bustling period for the two athletes, who recently celebrated their marriage in two distinct ceremonies earlier this year.

This week, Biles traveled to Belgium to participate in the World Championships, marking her return to the sport after a two-year hiatus from international competition.
In the meantime, Owens is embarking on a fresh chapter in Green Bay following four seasons with the Houston Texans.
While the couple adjusts to spending time apart due to their busy schedules, Owens conveyed on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday that he is unwavering in his support for his spouse.
“I’m not going for that, i don’t play bout my baby,” he wrote.
