Simone Biles’ dad is always there to support her success!
On Tuesday, July 30, the gymnast shared a heartwarming post on her Instagram Stories, featuring her family celebrating her historic win at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Earlier that day, Team USA clinched gold in the women’s gymnastics team final, with Biles leading the charge.
The post included a touching photo of Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, sitting alongside her parents, Nellie and Ronald. Ronald was captured intently watching the action through a pair of binoculars, while Nellie beamed with pride. “My dad & his binoculars is soooo freaking cute?,” Biles wrote.
Owens and her parents were among the thousands gathered at Bercy Arena. The Chicago Bears player wore a special T-shirt adorned with colorful photos of Biles and her last name emblazoned in large red letters, proudly showing his support.

Ronald and Nellie adopted Biles and her younger sister Adria when Simone was just six years old. Reflecting on her journey in an episode of her Facebook Watch series, “Simone Vs. Herself,” Biles said, “Being separated from my biological mom, being placed in foster care before I officially got adopted by my grandparents, it just set me up for a better route at life.”
Tuesday marked a historic moment as Biles became the most decorated U.S. gymnast in Olympic history, securing her eighth Olympic medal. Alongside her Team USA teammates—Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera—Biles triumphed in the team final, earning her fifth gold medal.
Speaking to reporters after her win, Biles shared her perspective on her achievements. “Honestly, I would have had to Google that,” she said. “I don’t keep count, I don’t keep stats. I just go out here and do what I’m supposed to and I’m doing what I love and enjoying it, so that’s really all that matters to me.” She added, “Yes, it’s amazing, now that I hear it, but I don’t think I’ll truly understand the depth of it until I walk away from the sport.”
Following her historic victory, Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, expressed his pride with a heartfelt message. “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat ??,” he wrote, sharing photos of himself wearing her gold medal and the couple sharing a romantic kiss. “Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it ????,” he concluded.
The support and love from her family, especially during such a monumental moment, underscore the deep bonds that have helped propel Biles to the pinnacle of her sport. Their presence and encouragement not only celebrate her victories but also highlight the strength and unity that define her journey.
