Shohei Ohtani exhibits his gratitude in a unique way.
The spouse of Joe Kelly, a pitcher for the Dodgers, shared a video showcasing the arrival of a brand-new Porsche in front of their residence—a seemingly generous gift from the team’s recently acquired superstar, valued at $700 million.

In the video, she is informed, “It’s yours. From Shohei. He wanted to gift you a Porsche. I swear.” This gesture appears to be a token of appreciation for the couple’s supportive roles in persuading Ohtani to join the Dodgers.
In a show of sportsmanship, Joe Kelly, who recently extended his contract with the Dodgers, graciously relinquished his jersey number 17 to Ohtani—the same number he wore during his six-year tenure with the Angels.
Before Ohtani’s decision to join the Dodgers, Ashley Kelly actively engaged in social media recruitment efforts, using the hashtag #Ohtake17. Her humorous pitches included suggestions like renaming their newborn son Kai to ShoKai and offering every piece of family gear adorned with the number 17.
In a subsequent video, Ashley joyfully reveals that Joe Kelly will now wear #99, as they bid farewell to all the #17 gear in the household.
Ohtani, widely regarded as baseball’s premier player, recently signed a remarkable 10-year, $700 million deal with the Dodgers. It appears that Ohtani’s influence extends beyond the field, as he may have played a part in recruiting another Japanese superstar, Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
The two players wasted no time building camaraderie, as evidenced by a shared dining experience at Matsuhisa Beverly Hills, as posted by the restaurant on Saturday.
