Shohei Ohtani revealed on Instagram on Saturday that he is set to join the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The former Los Angeles Angels star is reportedly finalizing a 10-year, $700 million contract, marking a groundbreaking free agency deal in North American sports.

In his announcement, Ohtani expressed his apologies for the delay in reaching a decision and declared, “I have decided to choose the Dodgers as my next team.” He hinted at discussing further details during a subsequent press conference, acknowledging that certain aspects couldn’t be conveyed in writing.
However, the deal is not yet officially confirmed.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Ohtani must undergo a physical examination before the contract can be formalized. Dodgers officials refrained from commenting on whether Ohtani had completed the physical, which is the final step before making the deal official.
There is also the possibility that the Dodgers may need to make adjustments to the 40-man roster before the deal is officially ratified.
While past instances, such as Carlos Correa’s situation last year, have demonstrated potential hitches during physical examinations, it is anticipated that Ohtani’s move to the Dodgers will proceed smoothly.
