Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, fresh from their collaboration in helping Team Japan secure victory in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, continued to build their bond.
Following Yamamoto’s monumental 12-year, $325 million deal with the Dodgers, which Ohtani reportedly played a role in, the teammates celebrated with a dinner at Matsuhisa Beverly Hills.

The world-renowned sushi restaurant went all out to welcome the duo and their interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara. Pastry chef Kei Hasegawa shared glimpses of the special occasion on Instagram, showcasing a delightful array of desserts served to commemorate their record-setting contracts.
Yamamoto’s contract stands as the most lucrative ever signed by a pitcher in terms of guaranteed dollars, surpassing Gerrit Cole’s nine-year, $324 million deal with the Yankees in 2020. Ohtani, on the other hand, is now estimated to be the highest-paid player in the history of professional sports, following his remarkable 10-year, $700 million deal.
Certainly, a celebration well-deserved for these baseball stars.
