As Deion Sanders’ sons approach what is likely their final year in college, they find themselves under intense scrutiny from NFL teams and fans alike. It’s no surprise then that Colorado defensive back Shilo Sanders is facing significant scrutiny for a late hit during a recent spring practice.
A video from Colorado’s practice captured Sanders charging towards an opposing ball carrier. However, despite the whistle blowing, Sanders continued his pursuit and delivered a forceful hit, eliciting gasps from his coaches and teammates.
A brief confrontation followed, with Coach Prime looking on excitedly from the sidelines.
Fans were quick to criticize Sanders for his actions, suggesting that such behavior would result in severe discipline for anyone else:
“Whistle blows 3-4 times, then a targeting penalty for leading with the crown. Hell yeah bro exactly what you’d want to see in a game,” one user sarcastically remarked.
“This is a joke right? This is why Colorado was horrific last year. Hits high with head down, doesn’t wrap up, doesn’t finish the tackle, horrific pad level,” commented another.
“Questionable behavior from a coach letting this happen / Unacceptable behavior from a father watching his son do this and letting it happen / Not only putting your kid in lifelong danger but also putting other parents’ kids in danger / Glad the buffs didn’t get into a real conference,” added a third.
Such a hit is undoubtedly unacceptable in college football, let alone in the NFL, where it would likely result in severe consequences.
