Colorado starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been vocal again this week about his father’s football program and the negative perception he believes is being pushed by the media.
This time, he took a swing at a former teammate who recently entered the transfer portal.
Sanders has had enough of the negative narratives surrounding the Buffs as they enter Year 2 of the Deion Sanders era. Here’s what he said online:
In what seemed to be an unprompted jab to most casual social media users, Sanders targeted former Colorado QB Gavin Kuld. By all accounts, Kuld had been enjoying his time in Boulder as a reserve, even being seen taking an offseason ski trip with Coach Prime and teammates. However, something must have changed in the last few days, as Kuld has now entered the transfer portal.

“I learned sometimes you have to take the high road. @GKuld I’ll spare you only this 1 time,” Sanders tweeted.
At that moment, it wasn’t quite clear what Sanders was referencing. He later clarified with a subsequent post:
“Y’all just interview anyone that leaves from Colorado just to get a negative look on the program,” Sanders wrote.
Apparently, Kuld had said something negative about the Buffs program to someone in the media. The details remain unclear.
This isn’t the first time Shedeur Sanders has gone after a former teammate over what he perceived as a slight against his father and the football team. Earlier this offseason, he mocked a former defensive back who felt he wasn’t given a fair shot at winning a starting role in the secondary. That incident led to media scrutiny of Sanders’ leadership and even his potential draft outlook.
Despite the backlash, Sanders doesn’t seem too worried about his NFL stock based on this latest conflict. Gavin Kuld later responded to Sanders’ online jab with a message of his own:
“Bro @ShedeurSanders what high road? What are u talking about spare me lol,” Kuld tweeted.
Kuld entered the transfer portal earlier this month. According to Sanders, Kuld was quickly contacted for a negative statement on his time at Colorado. Whatever was said clearly struck a nerve with the Buffs’ star player.
