Don’t call Shaquille O’Neal a celebrity.
The NBA on TNT analyst and NBA Hall of Famer opened up to People’s Mark Gray that he doesn’t want to be associated with celebrities who give fame a bad name.
“You know why I had to denounce myself from being a celebrity about six, seven years ago? Celebrities are a——. They just are. I never want to be in that category,” Shaq said.

Shaq continued,
“A lot of these people, when they come to a certain status, it automatically gives them the right to think they’re smarter than you, they’re better than you, they’re bigger than you,” he claimed. “And I never wanted to be like that.”
Unfortunately for Shaq, most people would refer to him as a “celebrity.” However, he has done little to get himself associated with those who give fame a bad name.
