Shaq is back!
Former NBA superstar and multi-talented entertainer Shaquille O’Neal is set to rekindle his music career by bringing his third rap album, “You Can’t Stop The Reign,” to digital streaming platforms this Friday.
The release is not just a trip down memory lane; it packs a significant surprise for hip-hop enthusiasts.
According to Andrew Barber of Fake Shore Drive, the album’s streaming debut will include a version of the song “No Love Lost” that showcases a previously unreleased collaboration between Jay-Z and Nas, marking their first-ever joint effort at the time.
The original version of this 1996 track featured Jay-Z and Lord Tariq alongside Shaq.
However, a notable feud between Jay-Z and Nas during that era prevented any direct collaborations between the two rap icons. Now, nearly two decades after the rappers settled their differences, this long-hidden version is set for release, adding a historic layer to the album’s debut.
This revelation is particularly stirring for hip-hop and basketball fans alike, juxtaposing the sports and music worlds in a thrilling showcase of talent.
While the 2024 NBA Draft might be the week’s highlight for basketball enthusiasts, the unveiling of this legendary collaboration between Nas and Jay-Z, at the peaks of their careers, brings an additional layer of excitement to Shaq’s album release, promising to make it a landmark event in the music industry.
