Brady asked, “What was your weight when you first entered the NBA after college and started with the Orlando Magic?”
O’Neal replied, “I was 285. They started ‘Hack-A-Shaq’ with me early so I started lifting weights and was 300 and then 315. Phil Jackson came in the first championship, I was 345,” O’Neal said. “And then had a great summer, came back 385 for the second one. Last championship, I was 415.”
However, Shaq had to shed a significant amount of weight swiftly when he joined the Miami Heat. He explained, “After I was traded and Pat Riley took over, he had me doing rigorous drills, and I dropped down to 325.”
Earlier this year, O’Neal disclosed that he had lost 55 pounds after facing difficulties ascending a flight of stairs.
Shaq truly stood as a unique figure in the world of basketball, and the NBA has not seen another player of his magnitude since his retirement.
