When you bear the title of “America’s Team,” you should be prepared for a fair share of criticism following a defeat.
Shannon Sharpe, temporarily taking the reins on First Take in place of Stephen A. Smith, has not held back in his critique of the Dallas Cowboys. His attention today was squarely focused on quarterback Dak Prescott.
During the show, Sharpe argued that Prescott currently represents the biggest issue for the Cowboys. He contended that in recent years, Prescott has shown a tendency to falter under the pressure of significant games and critical moments.
“In the big games when you need him the most, he comes up the smallest,” Sharpe said.
This is a viewpoint Sharpe has been expressing throughout the week, particularly following the Cowboys’ painful loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football.

The 2023 season has undoubtedly been a source of frustration for the Dallas Cowboys. They stand at 3-2, with their victories coming against some of the NFL’s weaker teams and a loss to the underperforming Arizona Cardinals.
If Dak Prescott aims to prove Shannon Sharpe wrong, he must lead the Cowboys to a significant victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in the upcoming weekend.
The only way for Prescott to alter the narrative is by winning some pivotal playoff games. Until that day arrives, he will continually face scrutiny regarding his adequacy as a quarterback.
