After an emotional farewell to Skip Bayless on Undisputed, Shannon Sharpe, the renowned NFL Hall of Famer, has become a highly sought-after free agent in the sports television industry.
Prominent ESPN personalities like Stephen A. Smith and Pat McAfee have even made on-air sales pitches to lure him to their network.
Despite being linked to media outlets like FanDuel and ESPN, Shannon has not signed with any specific company yet.
However, during his absence from television, ESPN has gone through a series of layoffs, including Max Kellerman, Bohmani Jones, Todd McShay, and Jalen Rose, creating an interesting shuffle between ESPN and FS1.
FS1’s executive producers have been busy assembling a lineup of debate partners to challenge Skip Bayless in the upcoming Fall season.
The news of former ESPN host Rachel Nichols joining Skip on Undisputed generated buzz, and Shannon also took to Instagram to remind fans that he will be returning to national television this Fall.
“Don’t worry I’ll be back on tv soon to cover Football season,” Shannon wrote. “These vacations are needed but, it’s too hot out here! I’m going back inside to the A/C where there’s cameras, microphones, and [Le Portier Cognac].”
With the college football season beginning on August 26th and the NFL season on September 7th, fans can anticipate an announcement from Shannon about his signing in the coming weeks, followed by his return to TV in less than a month.
Although Stephen A. Smith expressed optimism about Shannon joining ESPN, the NFL star has not dropped any hints regarding which company he will sign with or the lucrative contract awaiting him.
