Shannon Sharpe, known for his offensive skills in the NFL, has found himself unexpectedly playing defense lately.
Footage emerged over the weekend from Eddie Griffin’s stand-up routine, where he took aim at Sharpe.
Griffin told the audience, Me and Katt [are] the last two that ain’t wore a dress, n***a. I called that n***a… and said, ‘N***a, let’s do the ‘Non-Wearing A Dress Tour.’ That s***’ll be hot like a motherf***er.'” Eddie continued, referring to Sharpe as “gay.”
In response, Sharpe briefly addressed the issue on his show “Nightcap,” telling Ochocinco that his sister had called him after seeing Griffin’s routine. He mentioned his sister reminding him of their grandmother’s advice that a lie would eventually fade, and they couldn’t keep fighting such battles every day or else they’d be caught in a never-ending war.

Sharpe added that he believes comedians are just riding the wave of his popularity and resorting to the same old joke to provoke him. He emphasized the need for comedians to return to genuine humor at some point.
