At 44, Garcia is aiming to secure his second green jacket, adding to his victory from seven years ago when he triumphed over Justin Rose in a playoff.
Despite a challenging performance at last year’s Masters, where he missed the cut, Garcia embarked on this year’s tournament with a start alongside Chris Kirk and Ryan Fox, finding himself 2-over through 14 holes and trailing behind the early leader, Bryson DeChambeau.
Garcia, who now plays for LIV Golf, recently competed in the Saudi-backed league’s event in Miami, narrowly missing out on victory to Dean Burmester after a second playoff hole. Despite the near miss, Garcia remained philosophical, acknowledging the competitive nature of the sport.
Angela, who has a background as a Golf Channel reporter and is the daughter of former Texas Longhorns quarterback Marty Akins, has been by Garcia’s side since their marriage in 2017.
Together with their children, Azalea and Enzo, the Garcias exemplify a family deeply intertwined with the world of golf, sharing moments of style, support, and sport.
