With the NFL season still a few weeks away, NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson is already displaying his quick wit and sharp commentary, proving he’s in midseason form even before the games begin.
Recently, Hanson responded to a critic on Twitter who boldly claimed that “RedZone sucks and is a complete waste of money.” The poster’s hot take didn’t sit well with Hanson, who fired back with a response that quickly went viral.
“My hottest take is that you posted this for attention… not because you actually thought it through & believe it,” Hanson replied, effectively dismissing the critique as a ploy for attention.
Hanson didn’t stop there, though. He continued to dismantle the poster’s argument, highlighting the benefits of RedZone in a pointed follow-up. “But hey – if you actually do believe it – no worries. Enjoy the commercials and standing in the huddle shots & 9 additional looks at a replay when 1 is conclusive and … oh dear, I’ve run out of characters,” Hanson quipped, subtly mocking the traditional viewing experience that RedZone was designed to improve.
Not content with just one jab, Hanson took to Twitter again to elaborate on his thoughts. “I’m very hesitant to do this. A) because it could come across as mean. B) because it actually feeds into attention. If he wants to watch 1 game – that’s his prerogative. But just know: his future NFL hot takes are based on… wait for it… watching 1 game,” Hanson tweeted, reinforcing his belief that the critic’s perspective might be too limited to take seriously.
Hanson’s exchange not only showcased his sharp humor but also underscored why RedZone has become so beloved among NFL fans. As the host who guides viewers through every touchdown and key moment during the NFL’s Sunday action, Hanson has become synonymous with the excitement and comprehensive coverage that RedZone offers.
Looking ahead, the 2024 NFL season kicks off on Sunday, September 8, with 12 games slated for the RedZone window: eight during the 1 p.m. ET slot and four more at 4 p.m. ET. Although some of Week 1’s most anticipated matchups, like Chiefs vs. Ravens, Eagles vs. Packers, Rams vs. Lions, and Jets vs. 49ers, are scheduled for primetime and won’t be featured on RedZone, there are still plenty of exciting games for fans to enjoy. Notable matchups include the Texans vs. Colts at 1 p.m. and the Cleveland Browns vs. Dallas Cowboys at 4:25 p.m. ET.
One of the highlights of the early games will be the debut of Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, who will take the field during the 1 p.m. window on September 8.
Hanson’s viral moment is just the latest in a series of social media appearances this offseason. Earlier, he gained attention after being spotted in a TikTok video filmed in the aftermath of a car accident—an unexpected sighting that added to his off-season presence.
As the season approaches, fans can look forward to more of Hanson’s signature style on RedZone, where his ability to entertain and inform will no doubt keep viewers engaged throughout another thrilling NFL season.
