The Niners are not having it.
The San Francisco 49ers have officially severed ties with video game streamer Dr. Disrespect, real name Guy Beahm, following his involvement in a recent controversy.
This decision comes in light of allegations made by a former Twitch employee who accused Beahm of engaging in inappropriate contact with a minor in 2017, an incident cited as a primary reason for his suspension from the streaming platform in 2020.
On Tuesday, Beahm addressed the allegations, acknowledging that he had engaged in “mutual conversations” that occasionally veered into inappropriate territory but firmly denied any illegal activities. Despite his denial of legal wrongdoing, the 49ers have opted to distance themselves from Beahm, reflecting the organization’s commitment to maintaining its ethical standards. A spokesperson for the 49ers told TMZ Sports, “We take these developments seriously and will not be working with him going forward.”
Beahm had previously enjoyed a significant relationship with the 49ers, highlighted by his involvement in announcing their third-round draft pick in 2022, a pick that was used to select Tyrion Davis-Price. Months after the draft, the team extended further courtesies by inviting Beahm to Levi’s Stadium, where he was dressed in full team gear and participated on the field.

The controversy surrounding Beahm reached a new peak on June 25 when he issued a detailed statement on his Twitter account.
He confirmed the existence of messages exchanged with a minor in 2017 but reiterated that these interactions, while inappropriate, were not illegal. “Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not,” he stated.
Beahm described the messages as “casual, mutual conversations” and clarified, “Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed, I never even met the individual.” He disclosed that the issue had led to a civil dispute with Twitch, which was eventually settled through arbitration, emphasizing that it was not a criminal case.
Acknowledging his moral responsibility, Beahm expressed regret over the conversations: “Now, from a moral standpoint I’ll absolutely take responsibility. I should have never entertained these conversations to begin with. That’s on me. That’s on me as an adult, a husband, and a father. It should have never happened. I get it. I’m not perfect and I’ll f***ing own my shit. This was stupid.”
In his statement, Beahm also vehemently denied being a predator or pedophile and extended an apology to his community, industry friends, and supporters, understanding if the revelations caused discomfort and potentially led to a withdrawal of their support. “To my team, community, industry friends that have supported me, I apologize, I wish I could’ve said all this sooner… If any of this has made you uncomfortable, I get it. You don’t have to support me anymore but just know you have always been greatly appreciated,” he concluded.
The 49ers’ decision to discontinue their association with Beahm underscores the organization’s dedication to upholding a standard of conduct consistent with their values, especially in light of such serious allegations.
