When quarterback Russell Wilson inked a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, it seemed like the team had wrapped up their pursuit of veteran quarterbacks for 2024.
Yet, just five days later, Pittsburgh made another move.
The Steelers finalized a deal to bring in quarterback Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears, swapping him for a conditional 2025 sixth-round draft pick, as announced by the team on Saturday.
Following the initial reports, Fields took to social media to express gratitude and bid farewell to Bears fans. Wilson swiftly followed up by extending a warm welcome to Fields to his new squad.
“Let’s get it @justnfields,” Wilson posted on social media Saturday evening, adding, “QB room bout to be ?.” Alongside the message, Wilson shared a snapshot of him and Fields shaking hands after the Denver Broncos’ 31–28 victory over the Bears on Oct. 1.

The two quarterbacks share several similarities. Both boast backgrounds in baseball, hail from the Big Ten conference, elevated their performances after transferring colleges, and are eager to bounce back from underwhelming spells with their former teams.
It remains to be seen how well they’ll mesh during the season.
