On Monday night, Caitlin Clark became the center of attention as she was chosen first overall by the Indiana Fever in the WNBA Draft.
Following the announcement, discussions on social media quickly turned to her projected earnings, with Barstool Sports referencing Spotrac’s figures. According to these estimates, Clark’s contract is set to be around $338,000 over four years, starting with just over $76,500 in her first season.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson took to X to express his views on WNBA salaries, advocating for higher pay for the players. “These ladies deserve so much more… Praying for the day,” he commented.

Like the NFL, WNBA rookie salaries are predetermined by draft position. The top four picks each earn $76,535 in their debut season.
Aside from her salary, Clark’s income will be augmented by endorsement deals she secured during her college career. Notably, she featured in a significant State Farm promotion during the WNBA Draft and is also sponsored by Nike. These agreements will continue to provide additional financial benefits.
Top earners in the WNBA, like Arike Ogunbowale of the Dallas Wings, Kahleah Copper of the Phoenix Mercury, and Jewell Loyd of the Seattle Storm, make nearly $242,000 annually, as reported by Spotrac.
