Russell Westbrook and P.J. Washington were ejected from Game 3 of the Western Conference first-round playoff series between the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Friday, following an on-court altercation.
Midway through the fourth quarter, with the Clippers trailing 91-75, Westbrook was guarding Luka Doncic. Westbrook spun Doncic around, leading to a heated exchange.
Unhappy with the aggressive defense, Doncic was then shoved by Westbrook, prompting Washington to intervene and shove Westbrook in defense of his Mavericks teammate. The confrontation escalated when Westbrook threw a punch toward Washington.
Both Westbrook and Washington were assessed technical fouls for their actions, and subsequently ejected from the game. The Mavericks were granted a free throw, which they converted, and possession of the ball.
