How do you stop Scottie from winning?
Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Xander Schauffele are set to form a headline-grabbing trio for the first round of the U.S. Open this Thursday.
They are scheduled to tee off at 1:14 p.m. ET in what promises to be one of the most captivating groupings of the tournament.
During a press conference on Tuesday, McIlroy humorously remarked that only jail could prevent Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 golfer, from claiming victory, referencing Scheffler’s recent legal issues at the PGA Championship.
Although McIlroy’s comment was in jest, it underscored Scheffler’s resilience.

Despite his arrest prior to the PGA Championship, Scheffler managed to compete, shooting a remarkable 66 in the second round which positioned him as a strong contender for the title.
However, he couldn’t maintain his momentum and recorded a 73 in the third round, ultimately finishing eight shots behind the eventual winner, Schauffele, in a tie for eighth place.
As the trio prepares to compete in the initial two rounds of the U.S. Open, with McIlroy in pursuit of his first major championship since 2014, the stage is set for an enthralling display of golf, assuming all goes smoothly with security.
