Rob McElhenney doesn’t let the Emmy Awards stop him from watching the Eagles. The “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” actor shared a photo showing him tuning into the Eagles-Buccaneers wild-card game during the Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
As the executive producer of the sports documentary “Welcome to Wrexham,” which won five Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, McElhenney expressed his commitment to both the game and the awards. He mentioned checking in with the Emmys throughout the night but prioritizing the Eagles’ game.
McElhenney’s Eagles fandom is well-documented, and as a Philadelphia native, he organized a tailgate event ahead of the Eagles-49ers NFC Championship game last year, displaying the Wrexham game on television outside Lincoln Financial Field.
Having purchased Wrexham FC with Ryan Reynolds in 2020, McElhenney sees similarities between the Eagles and Wrexham, emphasizing their roles as the beating hearts of their respective communities.

Despite the Eagles’ recent struggles, McElhenney expressed confidence in their performance at the Emmys, predicting a 27-24 victory against the Buccaneers and anticipating a game in the divisional round against the Lions.
In the wild-card round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs, the Philadelphia Eagles were defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a final score of 32 to 9.
