LeBron James’ agent, Rich Paul, may have accidentally hinted at James’ plans for the upcoming offseason.
James, who has a $51.4 million player option for the next season with the Los Angeles Lakers, has been undecided about his future. However, during a recent appearance on TNT’s alternate broadcast of the Western Conference Finals Game 2 between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks, Paul made a remark that sparked speculation.
While discussing the Lakers’ head coaching search, Paul stated, “LeBron’s a free agent. I’ve got to be focused on his business. And he should be focused on his business. And let the Lakers hire whoever they want to hire.”

This comment led Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes to inquire if Paul was implying that James would decline his player option to become a free agent, though Paul later retracted, claiming he “doesn’t know” James’ intentions.
Speculation has also been growing about the possibility of James leaving the Lakers to join a team that might draft his son, Bronny.
This development could become a central narrative of the NBA offseason, with implications for both James’ career and the Lakers’ future.
