Taylor Swift was in attendance for Thursday night’s highly anticipated game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. While Swift herself never confirmed her plans to attend, multiple reports hinted at her appearance long before the game. The Athletic first broke the news, reporting that Swift would be present for the Chiefs’ season opener, sparking excitement and speculation among fans and media alike.
According to The Athletic’s Nate Taylor and Dianna Russini, Swift, currently on a two-month break from her Eras Tour, made the time to attend the game in Kansas City. With her European tour leg ending in August and the North American portion resuming in October, it was suggested that Swift could attend several of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s early-season games, including the first five weeks of the season. Her tour is scheduled to continue through December, with her final performance in Vancouver.
However, despite the excitement surrounding her appearance, Swift’s team is reportedly upset over how her plans were leaked. According to Page Six, her security team was “steaming” over the early disclosure of her attendance.

“She has presidential-level security,” a source told Page Six, emphasizing the concern over her safety. The same source noted that Swift’s security team has been on high alert since an incident in August when the CIA was made aware of potential threats at one of her concerts in Austria. Swift ended up canceling three shows in response to the threats, leading her team to tighten security measures even further.
The leak of her plans to attend the Chiefs vs. Ravens game raised alarm within her camp, with some suspecting the NFL may have been responsible for the disclosure. Speculation swirled that the league might have used Swift’s appearance to build additional hype for the game, given her immense star power and influence.
The Chiefs organization, however, seemed eager to welcome Swift to Arrowhead Stadium. “We’ll be prepared for her, and obviously welcome her with open arms,” Chiefs president Mark Donovan told Front Office Sports. He also acknowledged the significant impact Swift’s presence would bring, particularly with her broad and dedicated fanbase. “She brings a lot with her, and it’s a pretty valuable, targeted demographic when you look at the makeup of her fan base,” Donovan said, noting that the team had taken steps to ensure they were respectful of Swift’s stature and the security she requires.
Despite the controversy surrounding her attendance, the Chiefs ended the night on a high note, defeating the Ravens in their season opener.
Swift’s presence only added to the buzz surrounding the game, but her team’s dissatisfaction with how the situation was handled raises questions about future appearances and how they’ll be managed moving forward.
