A report by Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports shines some light on how difficult it will be to find a new ‘Undisputed’ co-host for Skip Bayless.
“Bayless fancies himself the King of Embrace Debate. He’s never really gotten along with his debate partners, except for his ‘brother from another mother’ Stephen A. Smith, at ESPN,” McCarthy writes.
According to McCarthy, Bayless’ demanding and “micromanaging” style means that “few people” are willing to work with him.
It’s expected that Skip Bayless will have the final say in who replaces Shannon Sharpe has his new co-host.
There have been rumored issues between Sharpe and Bayless for months now. This became even more clear when Sharpe liked tweets disparaging Skip Bayless.
Bayless signed a four-year, $32 million contract with Fox Sports in 2021.
Here’s more from McCarthy’s report,
A source also told McCarthy that Bayless will not approve of hiring someone “who challenges him.”
“And here’s the kicker: you have to be willing to work with Skip, you’re going to have to put up with some s–t, he has to approve of you. And you have to get up at 3:30 in the morning,” McCarthy quoted the unnamed source as saying.”
Best of luck to whoever ends up replacing Sharpe. He or she will certainly need it.
