According to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Las Vegas Raiders have no intention of trading star running back Josh Jacobs.
However, Jacobs has yet to sign his one-year, $10.1 million franchise tender, which is becoming a concern as the regular season approaches.
While the #Colts let Jonathan Taylor seek a trade, league sources say the #Raiders have shown no interest in trading their star RB Josh Jacobs.

The Raiders’ approach differs from that of the Indianapolis Colts, who gave their disgruntled running back, Jonathan Taylor, permission to explore trade options. Jacobs’ situation exemplifies the struggles in the running back market, as he led the NFL in rushing yards but was unable to secure a desired extension before the July deadline.

Similarly, the New York Giants and Saquon Barkley reached a one-year agreement slightly higher than the franchise tag. Taylor, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, can see the potential outcomes.
Jacobs has not attended training camp yet, but since he has not signed his tender, he is not officially holding out and therefore avoids fines. The Raiders remain hopeful that Jacobs will join the team in time for the season opener against the Denver Broncos on September 10, though his absence may result in some rustiness due to missing offseason activities.
Given this report, it is understandable why trade discussions surrounding Jacobs have been shut down. From a practical perspective, it is unlikely that trading Jacobs would provide a considerable benefit for the Raiders. Keeping him on the roster for another year is expected to yield more value than any potential return from a trade.
Although Jacobs could theoretically extend his standoff beyond Week 1, it seems improbable, as he lacks the assurance of a significant payday like Le’Veon Bell had when he sat out the entire 2018 season.
Ultimately, fans can anticipate seeing Jacobs back in a Raiders uniform sooner rather than later.
