Are the Giants trying to underpay Saquon Barkley?
NFL insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network suggests that the contract negotiations between the New York Giants and running back Saquon Barkley may be coming to a positive resolution before the July 17 deadline.
In a recent video, Rapoport reveals that the Giants have presented a previously withdrawn offer to Barkley, which could potentially lead to a long-term agreement.

Update: The #Giants have now placed their pre-franchise tag offer back on the table for RB Saquon Barkley, per @RapSheet
It was taken off back in March when they tagged him but now it's back on.
The offer was separately reported to be worth up to $14 million, per @njdotcom pic.twitter.com/jGxvpdXjVr

If the deadline passes without a deal, Barkley will have the option of playing on the franchise tag or sitting out the season. However, both sides seem eager to continue discussions, as Barkley himself has stated.
Though the exact figure of the guaranteed money remains undisclosed, hopefully, the give-and-take of negotiations will lead to an amicable and happy ending.
Head coach Brian Daboll remains positive that even if there are hard feelings, they can be addressed privately and won’t affect team relationships.
At this point the NFL doesn’t want to pay Running Backs, so this may get a little bit ugly before things get resolved.
