Wherever Deion goes, financial prosperity follows.
Deion Sanders’ swift and remarkable success with the Colorado Buffaloes has become the talk of the NCAA football world. After an impressive three-year tenure at Jackson State, Prime Time signed a multi-year contract with the Buffaloes. Despite winning just one game last year, the team has defied expectations with an impeccable 3-0 record leading up to Saturday’s matchup against the Oregon Ducks.

As expected, Sanders’ arrival and his early accomplishments in Boulder have significantly boosted the school’s finances, according to a recent report.
Olivia Doak of the Daily Camera reveals that the university has already witnessed “record-breaking merchandise sales.” Steve Hurlbert, a spokesperson for the school, shared insights into the financial success that the university has enjoyed due to increased national exposure:
“There’s no money or contracts between the university and the pre-game shows like ESPN’s “College GameDay” and Fox’s “Big Noon Kickoff.” But Hurlbert said the university ran a report on the equivalent ad value of the earned media coverage since the season started and estimated it at $90.55 million.
Additionally, Doak reports that all “the top 10 all-time highest sales days” for the Buffaloes’ online team store have occurred during Sanders’ tenure as coach. Furthermore, the school has achieved record-breaking ticket sales:
“Sales in the online team store increased by 505% in December after Coach Prime was hired. Year to date, the team store revenue is pacing 892% ahead of 2022 and 153% ahead of 2021. September to date, sales are up 2,544% to last year at this time.
In addition to record merchandise sales, CU Boulder sold a record amount of tickets. The university sold 22,457 season tickets, which does not including the 11,600 student sports passes. Season tickets sold out in April, which is the first time in 27 years CU Boulder sold out of season tickets and just the ninth time in school history, Hurlbert said.”
In summary, Deion Sanders has undeniably been a valuable asset for the Buffaloes program, proving his worth in both on-field success and the generation of tens of millions of dollars in revenue for the university.
Sanders and the Buffaloes will aim for another upset when they face off against Oregon on Saturday afternoon.
