However, Casas chose this moment to share a rather unconventional and startling story about his father from his Little League days.
Instead of recounting an inspirational or touching memory, Casas delved into a dramatic incident that unfolded during one of his childhood baseball games—an event that starkly contrasts the typical Father’s Day tribute.
He began by setting the scene of a day when he was around six or seven years old, playing in a Little League game. After getting out during the game, a young Casas returned to the dugout in tears, overwhelmed by disappointment.
Describing his father’s unorthodox method of instilling resilience, Casas recounted how his dad, in an attempt to teach him a tough lesson about perseverance, physically pulled him from the dugout. “My dad, being the dad that he is, trying to teach me the lessons that he did in his own special way, came into the dugout, grabbed me by my shirt, dragged me to the line, and Looney Tunes style kicked me out onto the field,” he shared.
This act, meant to motivate him, took an unexpected turn when it alarmed one of the parents—a friend’s mother—who viewed the behavior as excessive.
She responded by calling child services, leading to his father’s arrest right at the baseball field. Casas vividly described the sight of his father being taken away in a police car and spending the night in jail, an image that undoubtedly left a lasting impression on him as a child.
