In February, after retiring from a 10-year NFL career, Teddy Bridgewater took on the role of head football coach at Miami Northwestern Senior High School, his own alma mater.
Bridgewater, celebrated for his time with Louisville in college football, stepped into coaching shortly after concluding his professional career following the 2023 NFL season.
His alma mater, Miami Northwestern, had experienced a challenging season with a 4-6 record in 2023. Bridgewater’s return was a move to help revitalize the program.
During the team’s first spring scrimmage under his leadership, Bridgewater made a significant impression. After the scrimmage, he encouraged his team to acknowledge the support of the fans:
“I want all of us to walk along the gates and tell everyone ‘thanks for coming out,'” he instructed his players, emphasizing the importance of community support and gratitude. “Take notice of what happened today around that fence. It’s going to be triple that, quadruple that come Friday nights. So walk around and tell everybody ‘thank you.'”
