Randy Moss, the Hall of Fame wide receiver and beloved ESPN analyst, may be temporarily absent from Sunday NFL Countdown, but his presence is still felt deeply by his colleagues and fans alike. Moss, who is battling cancer, recently took to X/Twitter to express his gratitude and share how much he misses being part of the show.
A Difficult Journey
Earlier this month, Moss revealed he had been diagnosed with cancer and underwent a six-hour procedure to remove a mass from his bile duct. The diagnosis and subsequent treatment have kept him away from the Countdown set for three Sundays, but the team has kept Moss’s spirit alive by continuing his popular “You Got Mossed!” segment, where he highlights incredible catches and moments from around the football world.
This morning, Moss shared a heartfelt message to his colleagues, writing:
“@espn sunday nfl countdown……I MISS U TOO!! My guys keeping it going. UGM segment was great!!”
Determined to Return
Despite the challenges he is facing, Moss remains optimistic and determined to return to television as soon as his health allows.
“As soon as I get healthy to get back out with guys, I will be on set,” Moss said after revealing his diagnosis. “Hopefully, I can be with you guys soon. My goal is to get back on television with my team.”
Moss’s commitment to his work and love for his ESPN family have been evident throughout his absence.
An Outpouring of Support
Moss has received an overwhelming wave of support from the football community, including his ESPN colleagues, former teammates, and current NFL stars.
Last Monday, the Minnesota Vikings, the team where Moss made his name as a superstar, honored him before their game. Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson paid tribute to Moss after scoring a touchdown, showing how much the Hall of Famer continues to inspire the next generation of players.
“Randy is obviously a legend in the game, so he knows about adversity just with the game of football,” said Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner, a cancer survivor himself. “Prayers up for him first and foremost, but you’ve got to think it’s a battle you can win. As long as he’s around family, he’s good.”
The Countdown Team’s Support
The Sunday NFL Countdown team has shown unwavering support for Moss during his fight. His colleagues have kept his segments alive on air and frequently send their well wishes. Moss’s heartfelt message this morning only reinforced the strong bond he shares with the team.
Looking Ahead
While Moss continues his recovery, his fans and colleagues eagerly await his return. His resilience and positivity are reminders of the strength he has displayed throughout his career, both on and off the field.
As Moss battles cancer, he does so with the love and encouragement of the football community behind him, a testament to the lasting impact he has made both as a player and a broadcaster.
