It’s safe to say Las Vegas Raiders wideout Davante Adams doesn’t hold Jimmy Garoppolo in high regard as a quarterback.
Adams is one of the prominent players featured in the Netflix docuseries “Receiver,” which offers fans an intimate look at his 2023 season with the Raiders.
Early in the regular season, Adams expressed his frustration and concern over Garoppolo’s performance, particularly how it was impacting his safety on the field. The All-Pro receiver sounded genuinely worried about the potential for a season-ending injury due to the frequency and severity of hits he was enduring.
“I got to get the [expletive] out of here before I lose my [expletive] life,” Adams vented. “I ain’t never been hit this many [expletive] times in my career. Every game I get [expletive] up.”
Adams’ discontent with Garoppolo’s play eventually led to a significant team decision. Later in the show, Adams disclosed that he approved the Raiders’ move to bench Garoppolo in favor of Aidan O’Connell.

“Well, my opinion on that was that I signed off on that, and that’s just the reality of it,” Adams stated.
The docuseries captured a raw moment of Adams losing his composure on the sideline, illustrating his mounting frustrations and the physical toll he was experiencing.
However, Adams no longer has to worry about playing alongside Garoppolo. As of now, his quarterback is Gardner Minshew. This change likely comes as a relief to Adams, who was evidently concerned about his well-being under Garoppolo’s leadership.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Garoppolo has signed a deal to serve as the backup quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams. As of now, he has not commented on the revelations from Netflix’s “Receiver.”
Adams’ candid remarks and the ensuing quarterback change highlight the intense pressures and dynamics within NFL teams, especially when a star player’s health and performance are at stake.
Fans of the Raiders and followers of the docuseries will undoubtedly keep a close eye on how these changes impact the team’s future and Adams’ career.
