Jimmy Garoppolo’s tenure with the Raiders hasn’t unfolded as expected.
There are indications that the Raiders are seriously contemplating starting rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell in their upcoming game against the Giants, as per reports by Vincent Bonsignore.
Garoppolo’s performance against the Lions on Monday night was anything but impressive, as he managed to complete just 10 of 21 pass attempts for 126 yards and an interception.

Given the recent dismissal of head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler, it now appears reasonable for the Raiders to assess the potential of their young talent. This move could also be advantageous for Davante Adams, who displayed visible frustration with Garoppolo during Monday’s game.
Aidan O’Connell, a former standout at Purdue, was picked by the Raiders in the fourth round of this year’s draft. In his inaugural career start, O’Connell completed 24 of 39 pass attempts for 238 yards, along with an interception, although the Raiders ultimately suffered a 24-17 loss to the Chargers. Three weeks later, O’Connell received playing time against the Bears, finishing the game with 75 passing yards, one touchdown, and an interception.
The question remains whether O’Connell can provide the Raiders with the much-needed offensive spark when they take on the Giants this Sunday. While Jimmy Garoppolo boasts a commendable record as a starting NFL quarterback, it’s worth noting that he has usually played on more formidable teams compared to the current Raiders roster.
