What would you do to keep LeBron James in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform?
Following their hard-fought Game 5 playoff loss to the Denver Nuggets in Denver, the Los Angeles Lakers have been eliminated from the NBA playoffs.
Lakers star LeBron James had a phenomenal performance, but it wasn’t enough as Jamal Murray hit another game-winning shot to send the Lakers home.
James addressed his NBA future post-game but didn’t provide much clarity.
James addressed his immediate basketball future following the loss and did not provide too much clarity.
“LeBron James says he doesn’t know his plans for his NBA future. He is currently focused on his family and then after that, USA Basketball training camp.”
“LeBron on if that was his last game as a Laker: “I’m not gonna answer that. I appreciate it.””
It’s no surprise that LeBron is non-committal on his basketball future immediately following the playoff loss.

However, The Athletic’s NBA insider Shams Charania has sparked rumors that the Lakers may draft LeBron’s son, Bronny James, just to keep to him around.
“The Lakers are open to drafting Bronny James this June to help fulfill LeBron James’ dream of playing with his son, team sources tell @shamscharania, @sam_amick and @jovanbuha. Bronny announced earlier this month that he will enter the 2024 NBA Draft.”
“Lakers are “very open” to helping LeBron fulfill his dream of playing with Bronny by potentially drafting him in June LeBron is “expected” to play up to two more seasons (via @ShamsCharania, @jovanbuha, @sam_amick)”
Bronny has yet to decide if he’s going to return to college basketball or head to the NBA after an uneventful freshman season with the USC Trojans.
What is certain with Bronny is that he’s not headed back to USC as he has entered the transfer portal.
If the Lakers do draft Bronny, it will solely be to fulfill LeBron’s dream of playing with his son.
