A police officer rushing to aid Jim Irsay during the NFL owner’s medical emergency last month received an unexpected assist from Taylor Swift, as revealed in new police video obtained by TMZ Sports.
The footage, captured on a Carmel Police Dept. dash camera around 4:30 AM on Dec. 8, unfolds shortly after a 911 call reporting a potential overdose at Irsay’s Indiana home.
In the video, the officer activates his overhead lights and plays Swift’s music to expedite the journey to Irsay’s residence. Ignoring stop signs and at least one red light, he maneuvers through lanes while Swift’s “Cruel Summer” blares from the vehicle’s speakers.
At one point, the officer accelerates to a high speed, coinciding with Swift singing, “He looks up grinning like a devil, it’s new!”
The officer also tunes in to Kenya Grace’s “Strangers” before arriving at Irsay’s home. Additional law enforcement personnel, without music, subsequently join to provide assistance. In the police report, officers describe finding Irsay in bed gasping for air with a weak pulse and constricted pupils. He did not respond to a sternum rub but exhibited a slight response after Narcan, commonly used in opiate overdose situations, was administered. Irsay was later transported to a nearby hotel and survived.
The incident was classified as both an “overdose” and “overdose/poisoning.”
Over a month after the incident, on Jan. 9, the Colts announced Irsay was facing a “severe respiratory illness.” A statement on Jan. 17 emphasized that Jim was still recovering, and the team requested privacy for him and his family regarding personal health matters.
