Running back La’Mical Perine, formerly with the Kansas City Chiefs, signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on May 23, as announced by the team.

Perine, 26, was originally drafted by the New York Jets in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
During his two seasons with the Jets, he logged 72 rushing attempts for 263 yards and 2 touchdowns, per Pro Football Reference.
He was waived by the Jets in August 2022.
Following his release, Perine had short stints on the practice squads of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Miami Dolphins during the 2022 season.
He was cut by the Dolphins on January 23, 2023, and subsequently signed to the Chiefs’ practice squad on January 28.
Although Perine was not active for the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVII victory over the Eagles, he signed a reserve/future contract with Kansas City afterward.
He remained with the team for the 2023 season, appearing in three regular-season games and recording 22 rushes for 77 yards and 3 receptions for 33 yards.
The Chiefs released Perine on May 17.
In Pittsburgh, Perine joins a backfield that includes Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, Cordarrelle Patterson, Aaron Shampklin, Jonathan Ward, and Daijun Edwards.
