The Pistons, along with their fans, are in the midst of a concerning downward spiral.
The NBA’s record for the most consecutive losses is looming as a possibility for the team this year. Over the past several weeks, both Detroit and San Antonio have struggled to secure a win for more than a month. Fortunately for the Spurs, they ended their franchise-record 18-game losing streak with a significant victory over LeBron James and the Lakers on Friday night.

In contrast, the Pistons faced another defeat, extending their losing streak to 23 consecutive games after a challenging match against Joel Embiid and the 76ers on Friday. They are now perilously close to matching the league’s record of 28 straight regular-season defeats, a dubious distinction held by the 76ers during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 campaigns.
Understandably, fans are grappling with the emotional toll of the continuous losses. One fan even posted a rather extreme question, suggesting whether the Pistons should consider benching their starters, and by benching, I mean ending their lives.
This was one hypothetical that got a little too dark.
This season has been particularly challenging for the Pistons, holding the league’s worst record at 2-24 and enduring the aforementioned 23-game losing streak. Despite assembling a group of talented lottery picks in recent years, the team has struggled to address its offensive shortcomings.
While it’s natural for Pistons fans to express frustration, some sentiments, like the suggestion of murdering starters, may be considered overly extreme and impractical.
