Photos showing injuries allegedly sustained by a police officer during a confrontation with golfer Scottie Scheffler have been released by the Louisville Metro Police Department.
The images, which surfaced more than a week after charges against the world’s top golfer were dropped, reveal a small, penny-sized scrape above the officer’s wrist and some bleeding near the left knee.
Additionally, two photos show a hole in the officer’s pants, purportedly from the incident that occurred on May 17 at the PGA Championship. According to police documents, Detective Bryan Gillis attempted to stop Scheffler to manage traffic as the golfer was entering Valhalla Golf Club for his second round. Gillis claimed that Scheffler ignored his directions and dragged him several feet, resulting in injuries and tearing his $80 pants.

Scheffler was pulled from his vehicle and arrested, facing charges including a felony assault on a police officer. However, at a recent court hearing, prosecutors admitted to lacking sufficient evidence to proceed, leading to the dismissal of the case.
Despite the legal issues being resolved, Scheffler has participated in several tournaments since the incident but expressed ongoing bewilderment about the event, telling reporters at the Memorial, “I will probably never figure out why or how this happened.”
