Scottie Scheffler made it back on the course at Valhalla on Friday, but his morning started off on a strange note to say the least.
The No. 1 golfer in the world was arrested and detained by police following a misunderstanding at a traffic stop near the site of the 2024 PGA Championship.
Scheffler even had his mugshot taken in an orange jumpsuit, a photo that one fan at the event has already immortalized. A fan at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville is wearing a shirt with Scheffler’s mugshot from this morning.

Despite the bizarre start, Scheffler hasn’t let it derail him. He opened his second round with a birdie. In addition to the dreary weather, Scheffler also had to deal with a later-than-expected arrival to the course ahead of his tee time.
The two-time Masters champion is aiming for the third major victory of his career. Having previously finished as the runner-up in the PGA, Scheffler is now looking to capture the second major of the calendar year.
If Scheffler wins the PGA Championship, he would remain on track for the Grand Slam—winning all four major titles in one year. No golfer has achieved this feat in the same calendar year since Bobby Jones in 1930, and no golfer has won four majors consecutively since Tiger Woods in 2000 and 2001.
Scheffler has made a name for himself by rising to the occasion in big moments, and he’ll have another chance to do exactly that this weekend at the PGA Championship.
