After a prolonged search for a quarterback to feature in his Netflix docuseries, Peyton Manning has finally found the ideal candidate.
As reported by Jake Ellenbogen of Turf Show Times, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is poised to take the starring role in Netflix’s “Quarterback.”
The first season of this captivating Netflix series showcased prominent quarterbacks such as Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota.
The timing of this announcement is particularly intriguing. Just last week, Julian Sancton of The Hollywood Reporter disclosed that Manning had encountered difficulties in assembling a new group of quarterbacks for the upcoming season.
“Despite the success of the initial eight-episode series and the endorsement of its stars, the creators — led by Hall of Famer Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions in collaboration with NFL Films — faced challenges in securing another roster of quarterbacks for the second season before the NFL’s regular season kickoff on September 7th,” wrote Sancton.
Stafford, a Super Bowl champion and former Comeback Player of the Year, promises to be an exciting addition to this documentary series.
We will soon find out if Stafford’s involvement in “Quarterback” inspires other skilled quarterbacks to join the show.
Meanwhile, any hopes of a Tom Brady-to-the-Jets scenario can now be firmly laid to rest.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Jets will not be making any attempts to entice Brady out of retirement, even following Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury.
