Rob McElhenney experienced defeat in his bid for Kylie Kelce’s autographed Eagles letterman jacket, losing out to an unexpected opponent—his wife, Kaitlin Olson.
The actor from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” shared his tale of continual bidding woes on the New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast. McElhenney aimed to secure the limited edition jacket in an auction benefiting the Philadelphia Eagles’ Autism Foundation.
Expressing his disbelief, McElhenney recounted, “I couldn’t believe that someone was immediately jumping on every time I bid, and so my final bid was going to be representing my favorite player on the Eagles, 62. [$62,000], I thought that was a good number.”
However, his revelation took an amusing turn when he received a text disclosing the mystery bidder’s identity: “I’ve been the one bidding against you, bozo.” To his surprise, the bidder turned out to be none other than his wife and co-star, Kaitlin Olson.
Olson chimed in during the podcast, confessing her involvement in the bidding war, “What up?” Jason Kelce playfully exclaimed, “Kaitlin! Oh my gosh, an inside job!”

The Hacks actress clarified her motivations, stating, “Okay, we live in the same house. This is a foundation that is important to both of us. The jacket looks great on your wife. It’s clearly for women. I want it. He mentions nothing about it. I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’” She continued, “Kylie looks great in it. I want to wear the jacket.”
Olson revealed that she discovered her husband’s bidding efforts through social media, sharing, “I find out on X how much he’s bidding. And from Jason Kelce that he’s crashing the site. I’m like, ‘No, no, no, I’m crashing the site.’”
Ultimately, the couple opted for a joint donation of $100,000, considering it a generous contribution to the Philadelphia Eagles’ Autism Foundation. McElhenney emphasized their commitment to the cause, mentioning their work in the Welcome to Wrexham docuseries focused on the autistic community.
Despite the humorous bidding saga, it’s evident that McElhenney and Olson share a strong bond and a commitment to supporting meaningful causes together.
