Talk about a blindsiding report!
There has been much speculation about Bill Belichick’s future in New England, but a recent report reveals that the Patriots “quietly” made a decision earlier this offseason. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Belichick agreed to a lucrative multi-year contract extension with the team.
“This past offseason, #Patriots coach Bill Belichick quietly agreed to a lucrative multi-year new contract, sources say. That, at least, adds some context to the discussions about the greatest coach in NFL history,” Rapoport reported.
While this extension doesn’t guarantee he won’t be fired or decide to move on, it certainly makes his departure more challenging. Some, like former player Tedy Bruschi, believe Belichick might be considering his options.

“I think Bill Belichick is considering it. … I have always known Bill to only coach for meaningful wins … division championships, playoff wins, Super Bowls. … The meaningful wins are now all for him.”
Belichick and the Patriots are facing a disappointing 1-5 start this season, and they will take on the Bills next. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. E.T. and will be broadcast on CBS. Expect to see Belichick doing his best to turn the season around and avoid further losses.
