The Kansas City Chiefs are on the brink of making NFL history in 2024.
Led by Patrick Mahomes, the team is aiming to become the first ever to win three consecutive Super Bowls, a feat that would firmly establish the Mahomes-era Chiefs as one of the greatest teams in football history—all before Mahomes turns 30.
However, the path to another Super Bowl victory is fraught with challenges.
Despite being the AFC’s #3 seed, the Chiefs managed to secure their spot in Super Bowl LVIII this past February, but not without significant effort and a bit of fortune. Adding to the uncertainty, Chris Broussard of FOX Sports’ “First Things First” has questioned the commitment level of some of Mahomes’ teammates compared to his own.
Broussard highlighted this issue by referring to the departure of Tyreek Hill, who left Kansas City for Miami in 2022 after contract disputes. While the trade ultimately provided the Chiefs with valuable draft picks and salary cap relief, it raised concerns about individual player motivations within the team. Broussard suggested that, like Hill, other players might prioritize personal financial gain over team success.
“For Mahomes, winning the Super Bowl is about legacy. For others who might already have a ring or two, their focus could shift to setting themselves up financially,” Broussard remarked.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs have faced other setbacks this offseason, including the loss of star cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, as well as off-field issues involving players like Rashee Rice and Harrison Butker.
These developments make Mahomes’ leadership more crucial than ever.
He must rally his teammates and reinforce the importance of collective achievement over individual financial aspirations, ensuring that everyone in the locker room is aligned with the team’s ambitious goal of a historic three-peat.
