The Week 13 loss of the Chiefs to the Packers was marred, in part, by an officiating crew that delivered an inconsistent performance.
During Kansas City’s final drive on Sunday Night Football, a notable absence in the officiating was a missed defensive pass interference call against Green Bay. Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling seemed to be impeded early by Packers cornerback Carrington Valentine while attempting a catch, yet no penalty flag was thrown.

Addressing the non-call after the game, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes refrained from challenging the officials’ decision. Instead, he expressed his support for allowing the players to engage in physical play, telling reporters, “At the end of the game, they let the guys play. I’m about that,” according to Jacob Morley of Packer Report.
Despite potential discontent on social media, Mahomes chose not to dwell on the officiating, emphasizing his responsibility to make a better throw. “If I get the ball out there, then he scores a touchdown. That’s what I’m saying. You don’t want flags, man. I gotta make the throw. If I make the throw, then I wouldn’t be wanting a flag,” he stated, as reported by Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star.
Tight end Travis Kelce echoed Mahomes’ sentiment, asserting that the blame for the loss rests squarely on the Chiefs’ shoulders, not the referees. “We can’t blame this thing on anyone but ourselves,” Kelce commented.
Following the defeat, Kansas City’s record dropped to 8–4, and they aim to rebound at Arrowhead Stadium against the Bills in Week 14.
