A baseball bearing the signature of Patrick Mahomes is poised to fetch a substantial sum at auction.
This particular baseball, adorned with signatures from a total of six players, stands out with Mahomes’ distinctive “#5” next to his autograph. The Kansas City Chiefs luminary and his high school teammates penned their names during the 2013-14 season, commemorating Mahomes’ senior year.
Discovered at a thrift store in Rockwall, Texas, in February, the ball has sparked considerable interest. Rockwall, situated nearly two hours away from Mahomes’ hometown of Tyler, served as the backdrop for his formative years, where he showcased his athletic prowess as a member of the Whitehouse High School Wildcats.
Now, the ball has found its way onto Leland’s auction block, attracting bids from collectors. With a starting bid of $2,500 and the highest bid currently at $2,750, the auction is expected to escalate in value. TMZ reports projections of the ball selling for at least $10,000 with 12 days remaining in the auction.

This isn’t the first instance of Mahomes’ baseball memorabilia hitting the auction scene. In 2020, another baseball signed by Mahomes and his high school cohorts from the 2013 season fetched $6,510.
While Mahomes continues to bask in the NFL offseason after securing his third Super Bowl title and earning his third Super Bowl MVP accolade, his ties to baseball remain intact. As a part-owner of the Kansas City Royals in Major League Baseball, Mahomes maintains a connection to the sport that once played a significant role in his life, even as he excels on the gridiron.
