Patrick Mahomes, while an extraordinary talent in the current NFL landscape, is yet to reach the level of Tom Brady’s unparalleled legacy.
However, Chiefs’ standout Patrick Mahomes shows no signs of leaving the league soon, and he’s already contemplating his post-retirement plans.
During a recent interview, Mahomes expressed his ambition to become a part-owner of an NFL franchise. He mentioned that Tom Brady is pursuing a similar path, emphasizing his deep affection for the sport and his desire to give back.
“I think Tom [Brady] is trying to do it right now, but that’s definitely where you want to get to because I love this sport and want to give back in any way possible,” he said. “When I’m done playing, obviously I’ll be a Chiefs fan, but at the same time I want to have that competitive edge I’ve always had my entire life.”

Mahomes, a two-time MVP, has already made substantial investments. He was recently involved in a group that invested in the Formula One team Alpine and holds minority stakes in the Kansas City Royals, Sporting Kansas City, and Kansas City Current.
Nevertheless, Mahomes faces an obstacle in his ownership aspirations. A new rule, passed by NFL owners in July, prohibits team employees who are not family members from acquiring equity in a franchise. Despite his significant contributions, this rule currently prevents Mahomes from obtaining ownership in the Chiefs.
While many argue that Mahomes deserves ownership in the Chiefs, it appears he still has a long and successful career ahead before he can transition into the ownership role he envisions.
