Patrick Mahomes consistently supports his teammates both on and off the field.
In a recent interview with ESPN, the 28-year-old quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs discussed the romantic involvement between his teammate Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. While he stressed that their relationship has not been a distraction for the team, it’s worth noting that certain unnamed sources have voiced their annoyance at the constant coverage of her in relation to the team.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to meet Taylor and witness what a great person she is,” Mahomes shared with reporter Jeff Darlington. “I think you can see why it hasn’t become a distraction or anything like that because everyone is focused on being the best they can be every day.”
Looking ahead to the offseason, Mahomes hinted at the possibility of traveling to Europe for a concert or some other engagement, playfully acknowledging the potential excitement in the coming months.
During the conversation, Mahomes was asked whether the buzz around the romance feels more significant than winning two Super Bowls. He responded, “I don’t think it feels any different. People see the whole Taylor Swift and Travis [thing], and they make it a huge deal because it is a huge deal. I think it becomes a bigger deal to the fan bases than it does to the guys who are actually in the building.”
Speaking about his close friendship with Kelce, Mahomes described him as a “brother” and emphasized the strong bond between their families. He highlighted Kelce’s authenticity and dedication to football, expressing how they both share a passion for winning and competition.
In a previous press conference in September, Mahomes had praised Taylor Swift, describing her as “really cool, good people.”
While their winning streak continues, Mahomes doesn’t foresee any issues arising from the romantic connection, acknowledging the potential for blame to be placed on Taylor Swift should the Chiefs encounter challenges on the field.
