Eric Bieniemy, the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders, has faced criticism regarding his coaching style with his new team.
Recently, Commanders head coach Ron Rivera stated that some players had issues with Bieniemy’s approach, a comment that Rivera later deemed as a mistake.
However, a number of Bieniemy’s former players have come forward to defend him, including Patrick Mahomes, a two-time Super Bowl champion.
According to Mahomes, Bieniemy’s coaching style is tough and demanding, but it ultimately brings out the best in players.
Mahomes believes that Bieniemy’s approach stems from a place of support and that he fully supports his players because he believes in them wholeheartedly.
“I think I saw EB said it perfect. EB is going to be harsh on you. He’s going to really try to get the best out of you every single day,” Mahomes said.
“He’s going to hold you accountable whenever you don’t even want to hold yourself accountable. And it made me a better player.”

Mahomes emphasizes that when Bieniemy challenges players on the field, he is not trying to degrade them but rather push them to exceed their own expectations. This is Bieniemy’s first season as offensive coordinator for the Commanders, and it remains to be seen if his approach will lead to a more successful offense.
However, based on his track record with the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington fans have reason to be optimistic about the future.
