Randi Mahomes, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, recently shared a heartfelt photo on social media from the hospital, where she was watching her son’s team play alongside her ailing father, Randy. As she spent time with her family, Randi took a moment to ask for prayers for her father’s health.
“Watching the game with daddy today,” Randi, 48, posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Prayers please for my dad.”
The touching photo shows Randi’s daughter, Mia, seated beside her grandfather’s hospital bed, with Randy Mahomes facing the television, tuned in to Sunday’s Chiefs-Chargers game. In the background, the broadcast of the game is visible as the Chiefs pulled off a 17-10 victory, improving their record to 4-0. The image resonated with many, and an outpouring of support followed, with fans and followers offering prayers and well-wishes for Randi’s father.
Randi Mahomes, much like Donna Kelce (the mother of Travis Kelce), has become somewhat of a celebrity in her own right.
The mother of three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes has garnered a significant following, thanks to her son’s success and her openness about family life. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Randi shared that Travis Kelce lovingly calls her “Mama Mahomes” whenever they meet. She also spoke about the close-knit environment at Arrowhead Stadium, where she feels a sense of community among the players and their families.

“It feels almost like a little family,” Randi said. “I love meeting Chiefs players because you don’t always get to meet them all.”
However, Randi also opened up about the challenges that come with being the mother of one of the NFL’s biggest stars. During a candid conversation on The Mom Game podcast in July, she admitted that fame has often been overwhelming for her. She even expressed envy toward her friends who live what she describes as a “normal” life, free from the pressures that come with being in the public eye.
“I look at some of my friends on social media and I’m jealous that they have this normal life,” Randi confessed. “Their kids are the same age as Patrick and Jackson, and they have this normal situation and we don’t. It’s super difficult. We just want to be normal and go out for dinner. We don’t do that.”
Randi, who has worked as an event planner for 20 years, explained that her family’s fame often complicates her professional life.
“At work, it’s really hard because 90 percent of my phone calls aren’t about work,” she said. “I still go to work and want to live normally.”
Of course, living a “normal” life is hard when your eldest son has signed a $480 million NFL contract. While Randi is proud of Patrick’s success, she admits that the fame has brought its own set of difficulties.
“As much as I say we’re blessed and Patrick’s living his dream, it has been the hardest seven years of my adult life,” Randi shared. “It’s been really hard to juggle being proud of him and the hate that you get, and the kids get. I can’t even explain how hard it’s been. I’ve cried a lot. I struggle with it.”
Much of Randi’s emotional strain also stems from the attention surrounding her younger son, Jackson Mahomes, a social media influencer. Jackson faced legal troubles when he was accused of misdemeanor battery and three counts of aggravated sexual battery. Though the felony charges were later dropped, Randi admitted that the ordeal took a toll on their family.
“Jackson has been through the ringer,” Randi said, “but the truth came out.”
Despite the challenges, Randi remains devoted to her family, which also includes her 12-year-old daughter, Mia. She has been open about the different paths her children have taken, noting that while Patrick is “living out his dream,” her other children haven’t experienced the same level of success.
However, there are benefits to Patrick’s accomplishments, including a sense of financial security for the entire family. Randi humorously noted that her children no longer rely on her for financial support. “They don’t even need me for money to take them to dinner,” she said. “They take me to dinner now.”
Randi’s journey as a mother in the spotlight has been filled with both pride and challenges. While she continues to navigate the pressures that come with her family’s fame, her recent post from the hospital underscores what matters most—family.
As she cares for her father and supports her children, Randi Mahomes remains a symbol of strength and resilience for those who follow her journey.
